I have been meaning to make a post about how well school has been going, but our internet has been some kind of terrible lately. It has it's good times and it's bad. We are hoping it will be fixed soon.
The first three weeks of homeschool have been completed. So far, everything is going smoothly. Chickadee took her first round of tests last week and made some really awesome grades. She came out with four 100's and 2 96's. She has to take her Literature and Creative Writing test today. We'll see how she comes out on this one. She is just like a little sponge. She just absorbs everything so quickly and efficiently.
We start our day by saying the pledges to the U.S. flag, Christian flag, and Bible. We then read scripture and pray before starting the school day. Sparrow has yet to memorize all the words, but he is getting there. He enjoys holding his hand over his heart and standing at attention while saying them. Since this is his first year of schooling it is all new to him. He seems to like it alright. It's a whole lot of coloring which is something he has never really enjoyed doing. He is not really into that kind of thing. He is a take it apart and put it back together kind of child. He loves the cutting and gluing. He is very hands-on. Chickadee can learn just by reading a book, but Sparrow is going to be just the opposite. I will definitely have to do a lot more hands on learning with him.
Speaking of hands-on learning, Chickadee has been learning about the different types of matter. Solid, liquid, and gas. She has a box that she has been collecting different types of matter. Of course, you can't really collect gas, but showing her on the stove how water evaporating looks explained that pretty well.
